Vegetable oil is an indispensable product in the retail, HoReCa, and gastronomy sectors, so there are a lot of offerings of sunflower oil on the market today. Однак не вся олія є однаково якісною та свіжою. How can you be sure that you offer your customers natural and safe products? In this article, we will tell you what stages of testing sunflower oil goes through before it reaches the end consumer.
The main stages of sunflower oil inspection
1. Laboratory research
This stage of control takes place directly at the sunflower oil production site. One of the analytical methods of checking is chemical analysis. It allows you to determine the content of fats, acids, vitamins, and other components of the product. Chemical analysis helps to identify any contaminants, impurities, or undesirable substances that may affect the quality and safety of the oil.
Sunflower oil analysis in the laboratory
Gas chromatography is used to determine the composition of fats and other chemical compounds. The method helps to detect deviations from standards and ensure the stability and homogeneity of vegetable oil.
In addition to the basic tests for the quality of cooking oil, laboratory tests are carried out for the presence of pesticides, mycotoxins, GMOs, dioxins, heavy metals, and radioactive elements in sunflower oil.
2. Incoming/outgoing control of sunflower oil
It is carried out when delivering oil to tanks or containers, and when importing/exporting from producers' warehouses.
What to check for:
the container's condition;
compliance of the cargo and packaging with the transportation conditions;
labeling compliance with the specifications;
goods' compliance with the shipping (accompanying) documents and technical conditions of the contracts.
When transporting sunflower oil in 5 liters of containers, the inspector checks the integrity and compliance of the container with the requirements of the contracts.

3. Checking the container cleanliness before loading sunflower oil
This is a visual inspection of containers to assess their cleanliness and suitability for the transportation of bulk sunflower oil. This involves a thorough inspection of the internal surfaces, control of the flexitanks' position in the containers, and checking the integrity and performance of locks, hinges, and rubber seals of the container doors.
4. Visual control of the loading process
In addition to the direct observation of the process, sunflower oil loading control also includes regular inspection of pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment to detect possible leaks or contamination.
